Description

Section through the middle of the pineal gland of a monkey, stained with protargol. It shows that in the middle of the gland (at least in the monkey) there is a central core of a dense plexus of fine nerve fibres, scattered in which are some conspicuous ganglion cells. The significance of this nervous tissue is quite unknown. The photograph is at a magnification of X 160.
