Description

Refers to information supplied by Sherrington on the lodestone of the Ashmolean Museum. Describes to Sherrington different makes of binoculars. Describes merits and demerits of British manufacturers of optical instruments over those produced in Germany: 'Zeiss claim to be British makers as they have works near Cricklewood. But their manager, Max Poser, is a braggart who used to swagger about driving all other optical manufacturers out of the country.[...] German microscopes are in no respect better than British ones by the good makers'.
