Transverse section through the pons, fourth ventricle and cerebellum. Notice the superior cerebellar peduncles (s.c.p.) joined across the mid-line by the superior medullary velum (s.m.v.). The latter forms the roof of the upper part of the fourth ventricle. Notice in the floor of the fourth ventricle the medial longitudinal bundle, and at a deeper level, within the pons, the medial fillet. The small lobule of the cerebellum called the flocculus should also be noted.
