Description

Section of the pons of a monkey's brain, stained with iron haemotoxylin and neutral red. It shows cells of the pontine nuclei lying in scattered groups among the transversely-running fibres of the pons. These cells give rise to ponto-cerebellar fibres which reach the cerebellar hemisphere of the opposite side by the middle cerebellar peduncle (brachium pontis). The photograph is at a magnification of X 380.
