Description

Section through the caudate nucleus of a rabbit’s brain, stained with methylene blue. It shows that the caudate nucleus is made up of large numbers of quite small nerve cells (oval or fusiform) which stain lightly. Scattered here and there are occasional larger cells which contain Nissl substance that stains more deeply. Two of these are seen in the centre of the field. The photograph is at a magnification of X 370.
