Patient Details

Age: 55 years

Sex: Male

Date of initial presentation: 15/7/1975

Clinical Diagnosis

Corneal graft button. Iris prolapse (Rosacea keratitis)
(Try to get section of iris prolapsing through hole)

29/10/1975

Microscopy

Sections are of a host corneal button with a central perforation and iris incarceration. The corneal epithelium is hyperplastic at the edges of the perforation and has migrated over the iris prolapse.

The corneal stroma is heavily infiltrated with polymorphs and eosinophils in the region of the perforation, and shows inflammatory pannus in the superficial stroma.

The iris tissue in the perforation has marked vessel dilatation, but little inflammatory infiltration in the iris stroma.

Diagnosis

Perforating corneal ulcer with iris prolapse
